Promote circulation and remove toxins

Gua Sha

Usually used in conjunction to cupping therapy, gua sha is used on smaller areas of the body (forearms, hands, or neck). This technique promotes normal circulation to painful areas of the body. Gua sha is a traditional Chinese method of increasing blood circulation and removing toxins and lymph fluid from the body.

Similar to a deep tissue massage, there can be intensity involved with gua sha, but the therapeutic benefit is immense. Many people carry toxins in their tissues and have issues with blood circulation. These must come to the surface for conditions and symptoms to resolve.

What to Expect

Gua sha therapy involves scraping/stroking the treatment area with a small gua sha tool. The process of performing gua sha, similar to cupping, leaves superficial marks on the body that last a few days.

During your first session, we will conduct a thorough assessment of your health, lifestyle, and any factors that may be contributing to imbalances. Based on this information, we will create a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Gua sha is often combined with acupuncture and other bodywork, like cupping, for optimal results.

I've been seeing Dana for 5 years or so. Visiting her practice is so much more than a traditional acupuncture experience. Dana's combination of TCM knowledge and various applications, genuine care for her patients' wellbeing, intuitive gifts, and a wonderful balance of humor and and "real talk" make her a great healthcare advocate and partner. I look forward to all of my visits with Dana!
